Giving a Helping Hand

Dear Friends,

On the second day of the ceasefire with Iran, we would like to take the opportunity to share an update from the Jerusalem Shelter and transitional programs.

These are frightening times for all of us, and even more so for the women and children, who continuously cope with the trauma of violence, even during normal circumstances. The challenges of starting independent lives, including, social isolation, financial anxiety and single parenthood are now compounded.

After the bombing alerts began, we organized alternative sleeping arrangements in secure spaces in the shelter. In the halfway homes, our staff kept in touch with the women and made home visits.

In the midst of the war, the fundraising campaign in memory of Ariel Charash, z"l, continued. Ariel served as a national service volunteer; through the generous spirit of his parents, Devorah and Meir Charash, his legacy of caring for the women and children continues. Thanks to the family's circle of friends, and thanks  to you - the community that supports us - we reached our fundraising goal of NIS 70,000.

We have diverted some of the funds towards emergency needs and are now continuing the fundraising effort, as we anticipate additional needs, such as: additional therapy hours, increased home visits and other interventions, extended rent and maintenance costs to allow women and children to prolong their stay, food and other basic needs.

Thank you for giving a helping hand and thank you for caring!
