Dear Friends,
One month ago, over 1400 men and women and children were brutally massacred. A month of deep pain, shock, anxiety, that shook the whole world. During this time of deepest distress and uncertainty, it is more then ever important to stand together. With your support Jaffa Institute is making a difference during these challenging times. Along with the regular activities carried out for at-risk population, we have initiated a range of programs to help meet the urgent and dynamic needs that have been emerging and which are multiplying by the hour.
-- The Jaffa Institute has opened the doors of its residential high school in Bet Shemesh facility to house, feed and care for displaced families and individuals from evacuated towns near the borders, who have been left without a roof over their heads. -- Since the emergence of the crisis, hundreds of volunteers have been coming to pack and distribute food packages for impoverished families and Holocaust survivors. -- In addition to providing our elderly recipients with food packages, our volunteers are in daily communication with them, calling them on the phone and also visiting them in their homes and accompanying them in running errands such as supermarket shopping, buying medications, etc. -- After mapping the urgent needs of the children and families served by our programs in relation to Israel’s current state of emergency, the following initiatives have been started: -- Computers for Children: The Jaffa Institute is supplying these families with a computer so that these children can continue their schooling during this time. -- Home Activity Packages: In order to help engage children in the home and mitigate their stress. -- Active Support and Assistance Network to provide emotional help for those dealing with fear, trauma and inability to function. -- Therapeutic Program for Evacuees. The program provides each family with a relaxing and engaging 5-hour activity for the children and therapeutic treatment for the whole family. Additionally, we map the needs of the evacuees and serve as liaison between them and services able to provide long-term solutions. The Institute has received several requests to equip a number of battalions that are currently in assembly areas. Accordingly, we have rolled up our sleeves and are acting quickly to help our soldiers in the field.
At this time, we are asking for your help that will enable us to run both our emergency activities and our regular activities. As this dynamic and unpredictable situation continues to unfold, we are in need of your support as never before.
In times of crisis, we stand together. Any amount you can give will help.
Thank you and please pray for the missing and the wounded and the families that are hurting. We WILL share better times soon.
Sincerely, Mitch |
